God defines the anointed as those who are called to fulfill a task…. for Him….and duly empowered to achieve His goal!

 

Jesus understood it like this too

 

Isa 61:1-2

"The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me,

Because the LORD has anointed Me

To preach good tidings to the poor;

He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,

To proclaim liberty to the captives,

And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD,      NKJV

 

The proof of the Spirit of the Lord being upon us is His anointing to achieve the task….

Are the poor  hearing the Good News of the gospel?

Are the broken hearted being healed?

Are the captives being set free?

Are those in prison being set free?

 

Each of us as children of God have a task which He has ordained for us. We should ask ourselves if we are doing the work He wants us to do?…..or are we only doing that which we desire?

Eph 2:10

10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.      NKJV

 

The works we are called to are not ‘works of the Law’…or works to earn our righteousness….we are to be doing His works!

Acts 10:38-39

God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.      NKJV

 

Cults like to quote the following passage...but never look at it in context

James 2:17
17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.    NKJV
 

The works of faith are the works Jesus did....not petty religious observations. Our faith in God WILL result in us sharing his love with others ... and laying hands on them and praying for them to be healed ... and miracles will happen.

 

The works we are called to do are clear…..it is not only to ‘preach’….Jesus says it is to demonstrate also!

John 14:12-14

"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.  13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.       NKJV

 

Brethren....this is our goal…..to BE as Jesus was to this world

1 John 4:17-18

Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.    NKJV

 

We can only do this by the indwelling Spirit

Acts 1:8

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."      NKJV

 

Mark 16:17-18

17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;  18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."      NKJV

 

John 3:2

"Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him."  NKJV

 

Mark 16:20

20 And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs .    NKJV

 

Note THEY worked ....and God worked WITH them (not without them)

 

Acts 4:29-31

29 Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, 30 by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus."

31 And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.     NKJV

 

This is what the anointing is….The Spirit of God ….in us ....for a TASK!

 

Acts 5:12

And through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people.  NKJV

 

Acts 6:8

And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people    NKJV

 

Acts 14:3

speaking boldly in the Lord, who was bearing witness to the word of His grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.     NKJV

 

Rom 15:18-19

18 For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ has not accomplished through me, in word and deed, to make the Gentiles obedient —  19 in mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem and round about to Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.    NKJV

 

Brethren.  ..…we are called to be God’s children…man’s servant     ….and the devil’s master!

NOTE   'fully preaching the Gospel' includes signs and wonders!

 

2 Cor 5:18-21

18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.     NKJV

 

Our role is to reach the world for God….with the message of Christ!

ie God loves you so much that He sent His Son to save you!

  

Rom 1:16-17

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith."       NKJV

 

Sadly today the church is not seeing the signs and wonders confirming the word. Could this be because the true gospel of God’s grace is NOT being preached?....Are people not getting the message that everything we need is received by faith (including healing and miracles)…and not by works? ....By Christ's work on the cross for us rather than our own works!

 

John 10:37-38

37 If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me;  38 but if I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him."      NKJV

 

Today many in the church denigrate miracles….but expect  people to believe that God is in them?

What makes us any different to a cult unless GOD is moving in and through you to touch the world?

How can we best silence the unbelievers……how did God convince you He was real?

 

When did Jesus receive His anointing?

 

John 1:32-34

32 And John bore witness, saying, "I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him. 33 I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, 'Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.' 34 And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God."      NKJV

 

The assurance of Sonship was a key….the sure knowledge of the infilling of the Spirit....the Spirit crying 'Abba' from within us.

 

Rom 8:9

9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.    NKJV

 

1 John 2:20

20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.      NKJV

 

1 John 2:27

27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.    NKJV

 

Col 2:9-10

9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.     NKJV

 

Brethren….we need to stop looking for what we already have IN CHRIST…..and start living by FAITH

 

Brethren…we do NOT receive our anointing from men…it is GOD who gives it to us!

 

Brethren…the anointing is God’s Spirit in us ….empowering us for a specific purpose

 

That task is to touch this world for Jesus….give them the good news brothers and sisters!

 

2 Cor 1:21-22

21 Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, 22 who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.    NKJV

 

The anointing is clearly the indwelling Spirit of God

 

John 16:13-14

13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.  14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.     NKJV

 

The primary task of the Spirit is to lead us into all truth….and that truth will be the ‘revelation of Jesus’ to us…He will teach us HOW to do the works!

 

Isa 10:27

27 It shall come to pass in that day

That his burden will be taken away from your shoulder,

And his yoke from your neck,

And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil.    NKJV

 

This burden or ‘yoke’ is NOT sin…. or sickness….. it is the LAW

 

Acts 15:9-11

10 Now therefore, why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? 11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved in the same manner as they."    NKJV

(The context is irrefutably the LAW of Moses ...vs 5)

 

Matt 11:28-30

28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."      NKJV

 

Matt 23:2-4

"The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat.  ………  4 For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.     NKJV

 

Isa 58:6

6 "Is this not the fast that I have chosen:

To loose the bonds of wickedness,

To undo the heavy burdens,

To let the oppressed go free,

And that you break every yoke ?     NKJV

 

Gal 5:1

Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.     NKJV

 

2 Cor 3:17

17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty .     NKJV

 

Rom 8:18-21

19 For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; 21 because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.   NKJV

 

How do we get there?

Eph 3:14-21

For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,   15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height —  19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.     NKJV

 

The revelation of how much God loves us……and what He HAS provided for us in Christ….the atonement …is the key to the release of the power of God through us!

 

The revelation that the Spirit of Christ dwells in our HEARTS through faith and then living out of that. Opening our hearts so that we can be filled with ALL the fullness of God.

 

Meditate on it….ask for God’s revelation…..It is only when we know the extent of His love for us that we will be able to abandon ourselves to Him fully!

 

Col 2:9-10

John 3:33-34

34 For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure.        NKJV

 

Brothers and sisters in Christ…..WE have the FULLNESS of the Spirit of God dwelling in US!

 

We do NOT need ‘another anointing’……we need a greater revelation of what we HAVE!
